Lord Howe Island General Practice is very pleased to announce that we have achieved AGPAL accreditation. I believe this is the first time that the GP clinic on the island has gone through the accreditation process (which is optional for GP clinics).
Accreditation means that our clinic has been independently assessed against national general practice standards – such as; for safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
For patients, accreditation gives reassurance that our practice has strong systems in place for safe care, privacy, infection control, recalls and reminders, staff training, emergency preparedness and ongoing improvement.
We are very proud of this milestone, especially as a small rural island practice. We are very grateful to everyone who has supported the clinic, especially to our new Nurse Sharon – who has also been acting as the practice manager.
