Dr Tom Leach

Tom trained at the University of Manchester (UK) and graduated in 2011. He worked in a variety of specialties at the Royal Bolton Hospital, before relocating to Australia in 2013. He then spent over two years working in critical care - including in the emergency department, intensive care and anaesthetics.

Since 2016, Tom has worked continually in a combination of General Practice and Emergency department roles in rural NSW and Canberra. Tom is a Specialist General Practitioner, holding Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). He holds additional qualifications including a Diploma of Child Health from Sydney Children’s Hospital and the Emergency Medicine Certificate from the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine. He is currently studying for a Master of Sports Medicine at the University of Queensland.

Tom is passionate about holistic, preventative healthcare, with a particular interest in general and emergency medicine, lifestyle medicine, sports injuries, skin health (including skin cancer excision) and child health.

After serving as a regular locum on Lord Howe Island since 2022, Tom was appointed the island’s resident doctor in 2025.
